Staffordshire Football Association are calling for nominations for the Groundsman of the Year Award.

The annual competition has had a number of successful nominations over the years and the awards will again be open to those clubs at step 7 and below.

The closing date for applications is Friday 14th January 2011 in order for ground inspections to be carried out in February 2011.

Longton Rugby Club are hosting a over 35’s football festival.

The festival takes place on Trentham Fields on Friday (Dec 10) between 6.00pm and 9.00pm.

Matches will be played in a 9-a-side format on the 3G artificial pitches.

The festival will involve a number of fixtures as well as the chance to catch up with old friends.

If the event is a success Staffordshire Football Association will be looking to develop regular fixtures.

Staffordshire Football Association Under 16’s are in action tomorrow (Nov 10) against Leicestershire & Rutland at Stafford Town Football Club.

The Under 16’s are looking for a sharp response after their opening 3-0 defeat to West Riding last week (Oct 28).

The side are currently bottom of the Midlands Counties League but Leicestershire & Rutland are yet to play this term.

Kick-off is 7.45pm.

Staffordshire Under 18’s will face Liverpool FA on Saturday (Nov 6) in the second-round of the FA County Youth Cup.

The Under 18’s progressed through thanks to a 3-2 win against Shropshire at Telford United.
